One coat stucco system consists of water resistive barrier (paper), foam, 1”x20 gauge wire and all
metal grounds. A one coat proprietary mixture of Portland cement, fiber and other additives is factory
blended and packaged in 80 lb. bags, its field mixed with sand (meeting ASTM C897) at a ratio of
approximately 200-240 pounds per 80 lb. bag and water to an applicable consistency. This mix is
applied at 3/8” to 1/2” thickness over lath and darbied for straightness, and then floated with a neoprene
or sponge float (depending on type of finish to be applied). Thickness and hydration of base coat is
crucial to the longevity of this system. Finish coat (texture coat) is then applied to the base coat
in the form of a cement and lime texture or acrylic finish. Please refer to ES report ESR1471 for
further technical data. If all steps are properly followed this system can last a lifetime.
A 3-coat stucco system consists of lath components, scratch coat, brown coat and a finish coat.
Lath components are a water resistant barrier (paper), 1” x 17 gauge wire, metal grounds and screeds
attached to framing members. Scratch coat is applied to a minimum thickness of 3/8” on vertical and ¼”
on horizontal surface, using sufficient pressure to key plaster into the lath. Prior to initial set, scratch
horizontally to provide key for bond of brown coat. The brown coat is applied to a minimum thickness of 3/8”,
using sufficient pressure to insure tight contact with the scratch coat. Then rod the surface to screeds,
creating true and even plane. Brown coat will then be floated out with either a neoprene or sponge float
(depending on type of finish to be applied). Finish coat (texture coat) is then applied to the brown coat
in the form of a cement and lime texture or acrylic finish. It is imperative that the scratch coat &
brown coat be kept moist for a minimum of 48 hours and 10 days respectively with at least seven days between
scratch and brown.
ShurKote PB EIFS: A lightweight, highly flexible system that offers the highest insulation value of any exterior cladding. Because this system provided the design professional with virtually unlimited color selections, it is the system of choice for most commercial projects and is ideal for providing a cost effective way to put that “new look” to older buildings.
ShurKote WM: A “Water Managed” system designed to channel any incidental moisture away from the wall cavity. The primary difference between this and a PB system is the application of a secondary moisture barrier and channels for incidental moisture drainage. The WM system still offers the design professional desirable features. It is flexible, lightweight and had high insulation values.
Not all building exteriors age at the same rate. The deterioration may be exhibited in multiple forms such as: delaminating, cracking, flaking or peeling. All factor into the failure of wall claddings and, if not treated, can lead to further damage in your structure. We at Integrated Stucco are committed to restoring and re-finishing your exterior cladding with the knowledge and experience of our team. Integrated Stucco works with manufacturers to utilize the research and scientific testing of the products that are available in our industry today, allowing us to offer manufactures 3, 5 and 7 year labor and material warranties using acrylic finishes. As a percentage approximately 80% of all stucco is painted and we understand the importance of the installation of paint coatings, installing the paint to a proper mill thickness and to all manufacturers’ specifications is crucial to longevity of your system in the desert heat. Integrated Stucco offers the installation of specially designed paint systems that offer extended warranties from the manufacturer. Integrated Stucco is a subsidiary of Schuck and Sons Construction and, with over 40 years in the carpentry business, we can help with all your framing needs as well.
